Using Mentor Texts for Craft Moves

Many years ago, I interned at Nancie Atwell's school then the following summer attended my first of many summer institutes at the Reading and Writing Project at Teachers College where I was mentored by Lucy Calkins and her incredible group of staff developers. When I returned to my school, I removed all of the teacher guides from textbook publishers and rolled in a treasure trove of mentor texts. Over the years I gathered and am still gathering a plethora of texts. Many of those texts are presented here and new texts are added all of the time.
