As a reading specialist for more than 30 years, I had a dream to support teachers and families with school-age children with a website that helps students create literate lives. To that end, I created Barbarathebookworm.com and am proud to provide this service for all.
My next dream grew out of my work as a literacy coach and reading specialist. I was given the task to weed and update a number of school libraries. As I weeded, I was aghast at what I found. Books with publication dates as far back as the 1940s. Books that had not been checked out in more than ten years. Books with outdated content like, “…and one day we too hope to put a man on the moon.”
SO, HERE IS MY NEXT MISSION
To provide school libraries with donations of new books. But how do I do this?
After consulting with business professionals and much prayer, I launched my own business to provide the funds for this project.
